At Fortitude School, culture is not something we talk about occasionally; it is something we live every day.

We believe that children thrive when they feel safe, understood, valued and supported. For many of our pupils, previous experiences of education may have been challenging. Some children arrive having lost confidence, experienced repeated failure, struggled with relationships or developed a belief that school is simply not a place where they can succeed.

Our mission is to change that story.

We create an environment where children feel accepted for who they are, where their strengths are celebrated and where they are supported to overcome barriers to learning and wellbeing. Through positive relationships, high expectations and personalised support, we help every child develop the confidence, resilience and self-belief needed to flourish.

Everything we do is guided by four simple principles.

Safe

Children cannot learn if they do not feel safe.

We provide consistent routines, predictable adults and clear expectations that help children feel secure both physically and emotionally. We create environments where children know they are protected, listened to and cared for.

Seen

Every child deserves to be known as an individual.

We take time to understand each child’s strengths, interests, challenges and aspirations. We celebrate what makes our children unique and ensure that every child feels recognised, valued and respected.

Supported

Children deserve the support they need to succeed.

Whether through nurturing relationships, personalised learning, therapeutic approaches, outdoor experiences or emotional regulation support, we remove barriers and help children achieve success.

Successful

Success looks different for every child.

At Fortitude, we celebrate progress in all its forms. We recognise effort, resilience and determination as well as academic achievement. We help children develop the confidence to believe in themselves and their future.

Positive relationships are at the heart of everything we do.

We know that children learn best from adults they trust. Every interaction is an opportunity to build confidence, develop self-esteem and strengthen a child’s sense of belonging.
